“Hallo, how are you? It’s me. I’m coming to you from the other side. Calling out. “
That’s the best I can do at Adele. I was doing errands one day last week and I swear, no word of a lie, I heard that song 12 times. I flip between 2 radio stations but…
12 times! Serious. That high-pitched voice almost made we drive in to the ditch and end it all.
No more radio for me. I’m on hiatus until somebody gets off their ass and writes a new song, that is.
I made myself a playlist and I’ve been doing all kinds of stuff lately.
Spring Cleaning: One day you realize just how far off the rails you’ve been with keeping house. It only took the whole day and half a bottle of cleaner, a roll of paper towels and bam. It looks like I’m walking in to a model home.
Relationships: I’ve gone on dates with my husband, every Friday. We’ve been going to thrift stores, flea markets and veggie shopping, we call it ‘tooting around.’
Garden Design Plans: Be prepared, cause even I’m shocked and wowed at my color scheme this year. So much so, that I’m starting next week decorating my front porch. I’ll have a reveal for you soon.
Sewing: I’ve found a dress pattern that is vintage inspired. My grandmother used to make herself these awesome little shifts. Actually she wasn’t little. She was a statuesque viking-shaped woman, just like me but I loved them and always wanted to have my own when I grew up.
Health: Lost 10 pounds – I’ve been eating whole foods, nothing processed. Drinking lots of water and taking Vitamin D emulsion.
I’ve eaten a salad every day for a while and it now is my newest habit.
I went for a sauna a couple of times, it felt so nice being heated up all the way through.
Decorating: I curated my new studio, it feels like being in the womb. So cozy. My daughter’s birth memory is “It was so great in your belly Mommy I didn’t want to come out, even when they made me.” I totally understand her now. She remembers floating around taking pictures and eating cake. That’s what it feels like in my studio – sans cake.
I am working on a bedroom re-do, just a refresh in colors and art work.
Personally: I’ve been working on a project that has been a challenge. So much so that I had one of the worst weeks in my life, mood-wise but it didn’t last and I’m doing so much better for it. This project required me to just feel and not edit or censor myself, which was not so fun. The dramatic break-though was well worth it.I found that the months of November and December were very impersonal in one way, my Facebook feeds and Inbox were full of messages trying to sell me something. It got on my nerves and I lost the warm fuzzies I normally have.
I feel like the past few weeks have reminded me of how the garden goes dormant does over the winter. All the great energy of the year gets stored in the ground for the upcoming season. Our creativity comes from a hub, our home. So we celebrate and nurture ourselves so that new opportunities can take root and thrive.
Spring is coming EARLY, can you feel it?
I hope you have a wonderful February, full of fluffy thoughts and ideas.
