In the last post, FRONT PORCH SESSION we talked about our love of great tunes here at Princess and The Yard Ape.
The title of this post may indicate that I may return to chatting about music, but it’s a different type of studio session I want to dive into today.
As a creator, writer, and all the other titles I go by I’ve carved out space for all my endeavors.
My style is all me, 100% unique. I’ve got a massive desk that Dave made for me. The studio has windows on three sides. The shelves groan, full of books on gardening, landscaping, art, and a massive collection of books from a period called The Western Canon.
I painted the walls a deep coral that can look orange or red depending on the time of day. I used mint green as an accent colour and have prints, pictures and vintage pieces of religious and modern art all over the walls.
My feature wall currently has a bunch of bird-inspired stuff. Don’t ask me why all I know is that it’s a right now kind of thing. It could all change by the time I write my next post or may switch into Christmas. The wings, not the birds.
Speaking of birds, I feather my nest with plants. I said that so easy. In six words.
It turns out I’m a plant hoarder. I have a card to prove it. 20 days ago, I went on a work trip to a tropical greenhouse to get some information about some plants I put in winter storage for a client. As a Landscape Contractor, I am around plants all the time. I visited 3 stores/nurseries etc. on just one particular trip.
One of the stores I went to is Oliver & Rust, in Fonthill, Ontario. That’s where I got the plant hoarder card. Being a card toting member turns me on, but it kind of just tells others something I’ve known all along. I’ve got it bad for plants.
Currently, I have 60 plants in the house, and as many outside that will have to come in for the winter. That’s part of my weekend unloading, rearranging session. I have to make a home for the outdoor plants, and that’s why a lot of stuff got culled from the house.
I took some pictures to show you a few and how easy they are to add to home decor and I have another post coming up called MY LIFE AS A PLANT HOARDER.
Here is what I’m listening to while I’m plant hoarding.
